Correct EVE Pro new version Update and Upgrade steps

Pre-rquisities: Internet reachability from your EVE is a must!

1. Free up your EVE Pro from older packages:

apt autoremove

2. make sure you have free space on EVE HDD, to check issue command. vg-root and /boot should not be in 100% or close to that.

df -h

3. Verify named ping, example, ping www.google.com, if success, follow step 4. If ping is not success, check your DNS IP assigned for EVE. Some of networks can be protected and disabled outgoing ping, make sure that your DNS is right and you are able reach internet.

4. Execute command

apt update

5. Execute command, when it prompt to confirm, answer "Y"

apt upgrade

NOTE: Making upgrade from older EVE Pro version, installation can ask to confirm some of installation steps:

5. After installation is successfully finished, reboot your EVE

reboot

 

Reinstall/Update EVE Pro dockers (Optional)

To install or fix docker stations in the EVE Pro issue the following commands from the CLI of EVE

apt update

apt install eve-ng-dockers

If for some reason dockers install command wont download packages from official Ubuntu repo, you can use

apt install eve-ng-dockers-alt

When dockers are properly installed, your EVE CLI output must show:

If you still see some docker line with  <none> please use reinstall dockers command

apt install --reinstall eve-ng-dockers

or

apt install --reinstall eve-ng-dockers-alt

Extra docker packages, Not ncluded in the default EVE Pro installation

Kali Linux, to install issue command:

apt install eve-ng-kali

Chromium Linux http, to install issue CLI command:

apt install eve-ng-chrome

To verify Installed dockers, issue CLI command

dc images

 

Upgrading from EVE-NG Community to EVE-NG Professional/Learning Center

 Pre-requisities:

1. Upgrade to latest version of EVE Community Edition(v2.0.3-92). To check the current version installed issue the following command in the CLI of EVE:

dpkg -l eve-ng

2. Must have enough HDD space available. Main evg-root HDD must have at least 10Gb free while the boot HDD must have 50Mb. To check how much space is available on your HDD issue the following command in the CLI of EVE:

df -h

Tip: You can free up some HDD space by removing unnecessary packages from your installation. To clean up boot hdd, issue the following command in the CLI of EVE and confirm with “Y”:

apt autoremove

3. Ensure your installation of EVE has internet and DNS access. Test by issuing the following command in the CLI of EVE

ping www.google.com

Upgrade steps

WARNING: Please be ready to purchase a license when upgrading, as you will not be able to run any nodes until a license is loaded.

1. To upgrade to EVE-NG Pro, issue the following commands in the CLI of EVE.

apt update

apt install eve-ng-pro

2. Reboot EVE

3. Next install docker support by issuing the following command from the CLI of EVE

apt update

apt install eve-ng-dockers

OPTION: If for some reason dockers install command wont download packages from official Ubuntu repo, you can use

apt install eve-ng-dockers-alt

When dockers are properly installed, your EVE CLI output must show:
