R1: Failed to start node (12). - IOL not working

Post by Viftrup » Sun Sep 24, 2017 4:13 pm

Hi,

I'm new to IOL world, but I want to simulate some L2 devices.
On my ESXi host I imported the OVA file and ran through the wizard.

I've uploaded my IOL images (the supported onces), imported my key etc.

I than the NETMAP and tried to start my IOS image in my SSH terminal, without any problems my IOS was booting up.
But then I try accessing the WebGUI, importing a working IOS file and I press the "Start", I'm getting the "R1: Failed to start node (12)." error?
Second time I press the start, it says it sucessful, but icon isn't turning into the blue color, and I'm not able to access it through my Putty.

Whats wrong? How do I proceed? I've tried rebooting the machine and making sure VHV is enabled in my VMX file?

Hi,

Let me post my problem here since I have same issue (failed to start node)...
eve-ng is running on my vmware workstation (4 CPU, 8GB RAM , 30GB HDD). I did touch NETMAP and when I run LD_LIBRARY_PATH the message shows "IOURC: Could not open iourc file ". I've attached screenshot. Kindly pls advise...

Thanks,
Bob

Did you create and add the license key to the iorc file?
From here: https://bsnetworking.blog/2017/01/22/ev ... ol-images/

Code: Select all

Add the following text to ~/.iourc:
[license]
eve-ng = 1234567890abcdef;

But it exactly is answering you on output what is the issue.
iourc license is not working.

thats why IOL nodes won't start

This is my first attempt to run IOL, ever.
I'm also having a problem starting IOL from the gui. I get the node started nessage and then nothing. From the cli:

Code: Select all

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/unetlab/addons/iol/lib /opt/unetlab/addons/iol/bin/L2-ADVENTERPRISE-M-15.1-20140814.bin 1
and the image starts and seems to run fine.
The server is bare metal running eve 2.0.3-84, 12G RAM, quad core i5, running Ubuntu 16.04

Code: Select all

root@eve1:~# uname -an
Linux eve1.mydomain.lan 4.9.40-eve-ng-ukms-2+ #4 SMP Fri Sep 15 02:07:02 CEST 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Anyone able to help with this please?

from your screenshot:

1. IOL images name are wrong.
2. license file should not end with .txt
