link status not detected between devices

Post by daniel » Tue Dec 05, 2017 1:22 am

I have two devices connected directly with each other but when I shut down interface on one side the other side of the link never detects it and always shows as up/up as if keepalive has been disabled. Anyone knows why?

Thanks,
Daniel

it is 100 times discussed theme.
Virtual nodes simply does not exist Layer 1, therefore such state up/operational down simply does not exist.
It will be always up/up even other end node is shut state.

You have to accept it from virtual nodes and use. No one virtual node supporting up/oper down state.

Thanks for answering my question. I just want to confirm that this is a reality and something I have to live with.

One thing that puzzles me is in the Cisco CCIE lab ( I think web IOU is used) the link status is detected. That is also a virtual environment but I am not sure what differences lie in the backend.

iou-web was our product as well, and never been any link status detected on any IOL node.
it same as in real exam same images used.
so forget about this link detection

Thanks UD. I feel better knowing that is the way it is now.
