Windows host (or linux) does not start on EVE

Before posting something, READ the changelog, WATCH the videos, howto and provide following:
Your install is: Bare metal, ESXi, what CPU model, RAM, HD, what EVE version you have, output of the uname -a and any other info that might help us faster.

Windows host (or linux) does not start on EVE

Post by prettyallo237 » Thu Mar 08, 2018 7:04 pm

Hello.
Well here I am new to eve-ng, but I have that even good knowledge on networks and linux systems in general.
My configuration:
EVE-20171007.iso (v 2.0.3-86)
Qemu version: 2.4.0
Current API version: 2.0.3-86

My problem is that my Windows or Linux machines do not start.
I say do not start, it shows no error, on the contrary when I right-click, then Start on the machine Windows / linux ca displays the small green notification at the top right of the screen, but nothing happens past.
screem.PNG
I have already followed to the letter the steps on these different links:
http://www.eve-ng.net/index.php/documen ... inux-image
http://www.eve-ng.net/index.php/documen ... on-the-eve
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxmYmKVQZpo&t=6s
And many other videos on YouTube. So far nothing starts.
I have also tried to read another topic in the forum, just to see if someone has not had the same problem as me. The only subject that I found an interesting one is this one
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=940&p=3470&hilit=Windows#p3470
But that still does not solve my problem. In anticipation (I do not know if it can be a beginning of track, I saw it on the previous subject, and I do not know how to interpret the result), here is the result of some order on my eve-ng:

Really if a person has already had this problem or knows how to solve it, I'm interested.
Thank you for your attention.

Re: Windows host (or linux) does not start on EVE

first:
YOUR CPU is very weak. i3 CPU I think has only 4 virtual CPU threads, maybe even less
EVE itself VM must be not less than 6Gb RAM and max available CPU cores (4 threads your pc hopefully) given.

Second win or linux images must be installed on EVE to be as image
Use ISO...

UD

PS: I just checked your CPU has x4 CPU threads.
So for EVE VM you have to assigne not less that 4/1 CPU and 6GB RAM.
Less you will face only problems to run any serious qemu node...

I also faced the same issue. The error was showing in the VM Workstation is ;

UNetLab is complaining about – Neither intel VT-X or AMD-V found.

Solution: Find the .vmx file for the UNetLab and add this line at the end.

Now the windows started. But still I am not able to install the windows as the VNC is not opening.

BUT Gents, please read something and watch please, all is given in our HowTo.
How eve must be installed, how tuned CPU...

and WE are NOT Unetlab... Unetlab is end of life and and end of support.

Thanks again.

Hello everyone, I appreciate your answers.
@Uldis (UD) , actually as I understand it, you say it's a Ram and CPU problem. But surprisingly I can start other nodes like ASA-8.42, ASA-9.15 or even Cisco XRv routers without problems. I also thought for a while that the problem could be the reduced resources of my machine! So I exported my VM in "ova", then import on a much more powerful machine (CPU = i7, RAM = 16GB ...), but the problem is the same. Windows (or linux) machines do not always start.

These are indeed ISO images that I use to install Win or linux on EVE as an image.

And in response to the links you suggested to me. I made it clear in my first post, that I had already read and seen all these links of the "hows to",

thank you
@manushankar, I look at your links. But I do not think it's the same problem that I have.
Thank you.

Really I am always looking for a solution to my problem, I am always open for possible proposals.
Thank you
