I am thinking of building a lab for multiple experiments etc.. Looking at cpu prices and performance...and power consumption.... I was looking at a couple options with, say, getting a 24 or 32 core threadripper. But then I thought: what about getting two regular ryzen systems and connecting them? I know you can connect gns3 to a physical network.....so why not have two machines running gns3 (etc) amd their networks connected via fiber? Seems like it could be more cost-effective and allow for some additional experimentation. I could save some electricity by shutting one system down at the very least.
Maybe someone here has experience in this? Maybe some suggestions as which platform would lend itself best to this idea?
Your input is appreciated!
