Use SCSI controller to attach virtual disks to vmx

Post by slimy_cat » Fri May 05, 2017 1:15 am

As my topic about slow boot of vMX is already closed now (wondered why), so I would suggest to check the possibility and use the virtual SCSI controller to attach the virtual drives to vMX VCP instance.
I made small experiment and found that vMX boots 3.5 minutes till the username prompt with SCSI, but the normal boot with ATA hdd takes about 8.5 minutes (see the full launch command here http://www.eve-ng.net/forum/viewtopic.p ... =441#p1430).
I think almost 3x faster boot up speed is worth to try simplify the life.
SCSI is officially supported by vMX VCP, as in Getting Started Guide for VMWare Juniper advises to use LSI Logic Parallel SCSI controller.
Thanks.
