Hide the supported platform, where no images

Post by slimy_cat » Tue Apr 25, 2017 1:27 pm

Hello guys,
I would like to make a suggestion: when user adds any node, show the list of only available nodes.
Example: If I uploaded only vMX and XRv images, I am able to add only those types of nodes. It means, I don't need to see the whole list of all possible nodes, as I can choose only two of them.
It can make the life a little bit simpler.
Thanks.

the list is there to see all what is supported, second if you need only your image, write its name in the dropdown menu

Hi Mike, I understand what you mean, but why we need to know ALL supported images if we build our own lab and have the only subset of them?
The available images are highlighted in the list, so you can choose them to add in your topology.
The problem is that the list is very long, and if you use only 2 or several images, you need to scroll down or type the word.
Anyway the available images are chosen (and highlighted) in the list, why just not to hide unavailable?
Not insist, just my 2 cents.
Thank all the team for great job!

I suggest that all the available images list before the other unavailable images.

We might add option to hide that, but not by default

I thought about the same yesterday. List of supported devices is too long to be shown whole in alpha order. Main question is "why does somebody go to this menu?", yes reason is he wants to added image which he has in EVE-NG, not to look what he doest have or cant added to his lab.

@mike: this could be default setting for this drop-down menu

this stuff will not produced on eve.
Images support yes, but not like you wrote generate IOL lic, its illegal.
Auto hiding nodes will bring 100000 unnecessary questions what is supported in current eve release.
So better if user can see if new template appeared.
As option to hide unloaded images, maybe its ok.
But add new node on topo which you need you simply can type 2 first letters of node name and list will short up itself.
rest custom images, naming as you like soon you can create own templates in the EVE Pro.
Community edition it is not expected to be.
And descriptions sir, better to write in english....
