Before posting something, READ the changelog, WATCH the videos, howto and provide following:
Your install is: Bare metal, ESXi, what CPU model, RAM, HD, what EVE version you have, output of the uname -a and any other info that might help us faster.

make sure you have free spece on EVE
boot hdd as well
to check it do:
df -h

make sure you have not any there as 100%

if you have it:
do
apt autoremove

then
apt update
apt upgrade

reboot

I installed EVE-NG PRO twice (because I has some issues in the first try) and I had the exact same error message related to guacamole during both installations.

However, it did go through the second time and all seems to be working fine now.

Yeah, this' frustrating, I do happen to have another clone installation at a different location and that update went through with no problems. I'll double check my internet connection.

Hello UD,

Thanks for your kind reply; I want to follow up with you, I did as you suggested but the issue seems to stay:

root@eve-test:~# apt install --reinstall eve-ng
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
...output omitted...
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/eve-ng-guacamole_2.0.3-87_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Please let me know if there're any further steps other than having to spin up a new EVE all together.

Regards,
Josue

Hello dear community,

I think I found the root cause of the failure; a few months back I followed a procedure to recover the password of the root user to access mysql; I was building a script that would tell me the name of the user that left the lab running. I'm sure my issue is all about that change I made to the database.

So by looking at a fresh install, the database has the following entry for the root user under authentication_string "*E65A1BFBB5AAC0527228F801FF947301F07A4D26".

So I'm thinking now; if I can get that same hash to be listed in the right place, everything should continue to operate as normal; my solution was to manually set that field to contain that same value:

UPDATE mysql.user
SET authentication_string = '*E65A1BFBB5AAC0527228F801FF947301F07A4D26', password_expired = 'N'
WHERE User = 'root' AND Host = 'localhost';
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

I hope everyone with the same issue can make it to work.

Regards,
Josue
