Hi
I'm not sure about how to backup my existing 2.x install and restore it in the new 6.x
According to the release notes:
Should I move this sub-sub folders to the main /opt/unetlab/tmp/ in 6.x installation?
i.e. old_host#/opt/unetlab/tmp/7/51b56b6e-624c-48ec-898a-af779543d85c -- move TO --> NEW_host#/opt/unetlab/tmp/51b56b6e-624c-48ec-898a-af779543d85c

Carlos
I'm not sure about how to backup my existing 2.x install and restore it in the new 6.x
According to the release notes:
And the last topic is the one I'm struggling with. In version 2.x I have tens of folders inside /opt/unetlab/tmp/, one per user/POD. And each "numbered" subfolder also have subfolders in it.It is impossible to make upgrade from old EVE Community based on Ubuntu 16.04 to the new EVE Community version 5 (Ubuntu 20.04).
To safe your current EVE Community work (Labs and Images), please do backup for labs and images, and simply load contents in the new EVE Community version 5 to the same location
For backup take the following folders from your current EVE Community:
/opt/unetlab/labs/
/opt/unetlab/addons/
/opt/unetlab/tmp/ (note, only Pod 0 and 1 will work on the new EVE Community V5)
Should I move this sub-sub folders to the main /opt/unetlab/tmp/ in 6.x installation?

My dear,
do you understand that EVE vers 2.x was running on Ubuntu 16 !?!
this ubuntu is end of life and cannot be upgraded anymore to the newest..
you option is:
get off all from old eve vers 2.x, labs and images..
Install new EVE v6 (Ubuntu 22 based)
thats it
upgrade from what you have is simply impossible... you are late aboit 6 years for this..

Hi
I totally understand that it's not possible to upgrade my current install. I will try to rephrase my previous post for a better understanding of my goal.
I have already installed a new EVE v6, but would like to move all the labs done in the old version. To achive that I must:
- copy the content from /opt/unetlab/labs from the old install to the new one -- OK
- copy the content from /opt/unetlab/addons from the old install to the new one -- OK
BUT
What I have to do with the content of /opt/unetlab/tmp from the old install? As the directory structure in that folder is completly diferrent between versions.
Should I ignore it?
Should I copy it as-is?
Thanks,
Carlos

Content of tmp copy to the new eve same location tmp
same is for labs folder
and images
NOTE: WARNING! Restoring Backup to the new EVE must be completed before you create first lab in your EVE. It will avoid lab UIDD overlapping in the new EVE!
For backup EVE content, copy the following EVE-NG files and folders:
/opt/unetlab/addons/
/opt/unetlab/tmp/
/opt/unetlab/labs/
/opt/unetlab/evedb.gz
same is for labs folder
