First, thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been running this since the WebIOU days - outstanding.
I'm having a problem booting from an exported and edited config. First the details, this is EVE-NG version: 2.0.3-71 running on VMware ESXi host v5.5.0-2015-120400 standard... plenty of RAM and Drive space.
Steps to duplicate problem:
1. Boot IOL image (or any image supporting "set nodes to startup-cfg exported")
2. Make some changes to IOL image via CLI and save changes to NVRAM
3. "Export CFG" of the IOL image and check to see if config exported and ready to boot from that saved config (lightning bolt = true); all good
4. Select IOL image icon and "set nodes to startup-cfg exported"; now get alert that wipe must be completed to boot from exported config - check
5. Select IOL image icon and "Wipe selected"; get alert/warning; device wiped and shutdown; OK - check
6. Now boot IOL image again and it does boot, I think, from the exported config; I say "I think, because I just saved it to NVRAM and made no edits to the exported config
Here is where the problem starts:
1. After step 5 above, I then make edits to the exported config file.
2. Now restart the IOL image and check that the config edits were imported
3. The edited config file DOES NOT get imported
Am I missing a step here or are my steps out-of-sequence? By the way, I don't recall having this problem from earlier version of EVE, but can't recall at what version it stopped functioning.
Best
Note for clarity... the second step 3 above; The exported config does come along with the restart of the IOL image, but the edits made to that exported config do not show in the restarted IOL image.
Another note: I notice that after editing the saved configuration file and then clicking "Save," nothing happens. If I close the editing window and re-open to check that my edits are still there, I see that the edits are still in the file.... but, on restart of the image, the edits DO NOT make it back into the startup config.
Also just checked this on my EVE-NG (same version) installed on VMware workstation Pro version 12 and find that I have the same problem.
All-in-all, it appears that no matter what I do, the IOL image will only boot using the config saved to NVRAM

Re: Problem booting from exported and edited config
after you had exported configs, you see them under configs on the side bar.
Remember any change you did on cfg manually remember press save for each edited node.
Then all steps same:
set to exported, wipe node, start it
You will see node boots with your changes....

Re: Problem booting from exported and edited config
Huh... Thanks, I just checked with a single node and it works. It appears that my sequence, described in original post, is all wrong. I'll check the original lab, with multiple nodes, that I was having problems with and see if this works there as well. Thank you very much.
