Workstation 14 Pro Install Not Working

Post by Renz_G » Fri Nov 03, 2017 7:56 pm

Hi All,

I've imported the Community Edition OVA into VM Workstation Pro 14 running in a Lenovo T450 Laptop (Windows 7 64-bit) but the VM won't boot. Once I power it on, it just stays as a blank black screen. I've waited for an hour at the most but to no avail.

Here are the settings which are based on the video tutorial:

4 vCPU
4GB RAM
NAT as the network connection
Virtualize Intel VT-x enabled

Does anyone have a similar issue?

I read the following on the System Requirements link:

In other words the EVE-NG requirements are the same for nested ESXi virtualization or Cisco VIRL/CML. EVE-NG can still works without Intel VT processors and can run installed within other hypervisors also But:

64 bits (x86_64) appliances won’t work. <--------
Poor performances should be expected with 32 bits (i386) appliances.

Does this mean that EVE won't work on a 64-bit OS?

Would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in advance.

Also verified that the OVA isn't corrupted.

C:\>CertUtil -hashfile "C:\Users\renz01\Documents\Software\EVE\EVE Community E
dition.ova" MD5
MD5 hash of file C:\Users\renz01\Documents\Software\EVE\EVE Community Edition.

CertUtil: -hashfile command completed successfully.

EVE and WM Pro 14 works like charm sir
one thing sometimes heavy antivirus block eve vm workload. Specially for qemu nodes.
if you have no antivirus then simply you installed something wrong there..
I already installed more than 20 EVE VMs on Pro 14 and all works nicely

EVE VM must have nt less than x4 CPU and min 4Gb RAM
Picture below, Win 10x64 with VM Pro 14
EVE x4CPU and 6Gb RAM

Thanks for the inputs Uldis.

It's weird but I was able to get it working on Workstation 12.1.1. However I noticed that inter-VLAN routing is unstable on L3 switches when running IOL (i86bi-linux-l2-adventerprisek9-15.2d.bin). Here's the simple topology that I'm running.

Do you think this is an issue with my Workstation version being too low than what's recommended? Or perhaps lack of dedicated RAM for the VM?
