remove old qemu instances

is there any need to keep old qemu instances on eve-ng that are not being used? If not how to do you remove them without breaking the labs?

Yes you can, but then this lab will lost all config which was saved using those qemu nodes.
Itself lab will be not lost, but configurations will go.
Another option, if some nodes which support export, can be exported config and after chnage images to newer you can boot it from exported configs.
Not all nodes supporting such export
