Hey gang,
I've been running few vEX switches in eve-ng and I was able to onboard them successfully to Mist dashboard. The issue I'm facing with is the campus fabric configuration. When I reach the step of setting up which ports will be used for connecting core and distribution switches none ports are offered. Like they are not recognized by Mist. Has someone played around?
Btw Mist sees vEX switches as EX9214 model. When I go to switch config under tab Front Panel I can see the message: "Switch information not available". But when I move to tab Port List I can see all ports listed (ge-0/0/0 to ge-0/0/8)

Check newest vEX image, and set 24 ports,
I did not myself, but some Juniper guys reported with MIST worked..

If your vEX switch require 25 ports, then set in the template 25 ports and after image is booted:
user@host# set chassis fpc 0 pic 0 number-of-ports 24
user@host# commit
