Legalities

Post by tim77777 » Sun Apr 26, 2020 2:30 am

Hi,

I am wondering about the legalities of using images. I see that some vendors provide images for eve ng. However, if it is for example a cisco IOS, for which a valid cisco login and service support contract is required. It seems it is not possible to legally use a cisco image. Is that correct?

Another example, say Windows 10. If I was to use an evaluation version and create a eve ng image from it, is that within Microsofts terms?

thanks

Correct about Cisco. You must have CCO with servcie contract or VIRL account toobtain images legally and use it.
Similar is with Juniper, but Juniper offers evaluation software. vSRX and vMX.

Regarding Microsoft, I dont know exactly, but if they have in offer evaluation ISO where you can install Win10 VM, I see it a totally legal way.
