Hi I have eve-ng version 2 and 5. But I do not know why management ip address cannot be saved. Once reboot, ip address disappear.



I use the two groups below to add ip address. The second one is to setup initial config. it still cannot keep ip address. Do we have some command to save ip address? Thank you



sudo ip addr add 10.0.100.191/24 dev eth0
ifconfig eth0 up



rm -f /opt/ovf/.configured
su -

If the EVE is installed properly then these commands does it

rm -f /opt/ovf/.configured
su -

either EVE version 2 or 5
But if you touched config manually, then no wonder EVE does not keep it

Thanks for your reply. After trying installation several times, i can see only "dhcp" can work to provide management interface ip address when I setup the initial configuration. "static" cannot work. even if setting up static ip address for management interface, the ip address will disappear once reboot. so the static ip address for management cannot be saved. Is this correct?

no it is not correct,
static IP saves if the EVE is ok and installed properly

Thanks. I setup eve-ng v5 in esxi several times based on the youtube below. The installing process is not complicated. I am not sure what point I missed for the process. Can you share some suggestion for the installation? youtube below setup eve-ng in esxi with dhcp mode instead of static.

If your network on the ESXi is configured right, then will be no issues to setup static IP during install.

ISO install require Live internet and DNS to be resolved, until this is not ok on your ESXi, you will not be able install EVE
