Velocloud edge LAB 4.3.1

Post by reed » Mon Aug 28, 2023 10:50 pm

I am able to get the lab working, but the only issue i have is with the edge. It is activated via cli, and after the edge is powered down/up it loses its activation on the edge and VCO reports as offline but still activated. The edge is unable to function. Any ideas ?

thanks

The issue you're facing with the edge device losing its activation after a power cycle might be related to a licensing or activation process specific to the software or hardware you're using. To address this issue, you can try the following steps:

Check License and Activation: Ensure that your edge device has a valid license, and that the activation process was completed successfully. Licensing and activation processes can vary depending on the specific device and software you're using.

Activation Persistence: Some devices require you to save or commit the activation status/configuration. After activating the edge device, check if there's a step to save or commit the configuration, and make sure it's performed.

Check for Updates: Verify if there are any software or firmware updates available for the edge device. Sometimes, software updates address issues related to activation and stability.

Review Documentation: Consult the documentation provided by the device manufacturer or software provider. It may contain specific instructions for handling activation and any known issues related to activation persistence.

Contact Support: If the issue persists and you're unable to find a solution, consider reaching out to the support team of the device or software manufacturer. They can provide specific guidance and assistance for your setup.

Virtual Environments: If you're using virtualization software like VMware, VirtualBox, or EVE-NG, ensure that the virtual machine (VM) settings are correctly configured, including hardware virtualization support if required.

Network Connectivity: Ensure that the edge device has consistent network connectivity. Loss of connectivity can sometimes lead to activation issues.

Backup and Restore: If your edge device allows it, consider creating a backup of the activation configuration/settings. In case of issues, you can restore the configuration.

Logs and Diagnostics: Check the system logs and diagnostic tools provided by the device or software for any error messages or clues related to activation issues.

Remember that the specific steps to resolve this issue may vary based on the type and model of the edge device you're using. If you can provide more details about the device, software, and activation process, it may be possible to offer more targeted guidance.

It is seriously depends what kind of connection you have between Orchestrator and edges. If it is vIOS switch used between, strong recommendation is to replace it with IOL switch better.
In our labs we used IOL devices as interconnection between Velocloud nodes.

last lab in this link

And do not use VBOX for EVE
