Nexus 9k 9.3(9) Spine Leaf - interface not connected

Post by sledge121@gmail.com » Tue Jul 23, 2024 9:08 am

Hi guys

I have a Nexus 9k lab running in a spine/leaf topology and all is good. Then I power on the lab the next day and some of the Nexus interfaces are down/not connected, the only way to fix is it either reboot the Nexus or reboot EVE. Have any of you seen this before?

Thanks
Rick

Hi Rusty

Thanks for replying and showing interest.

NXOS 9.3(9)
EVE 6.2.0-4-Community running as VM on ESXI.
Hypervisor ESXI 8.0 Update 2
8 cores
52GB RAM assigned to EVE

2 Spine 8GB each
2 Leaf 8GB each
2 IOSv 'hosts' 1GB each.

Thanks
Rick

you need to increase cpu cores to 12

Thanks, I've increased it to 12. Is using 12 cores a documented thing or do you just know it from experience?

Lets count your lab CPU!
4x Nexus each 2 CPU =8
2x vIOS =2 CPU
Total 10 CPU need, and your eve has only 8

It is myth when people are saying: I have 128GB RAM and it is good server and can run a lot. It is not true.

The EVE-NG Server hardware priorities are:
1. CPU, and more CPU cores you have assigned for EVE server as better.
2. Fast HDD drive like SSD
3. and only then is RAM

If you have 4 CPU assigned for EVE server and it also has 128GB RAM, your RAM becomes useless, because CPU cannot hold the labs

Hi

Its still happening even on 12 cores. I just started a single Nexus 9000v in the lab and the interfaces are as below

Eth1/1 -- eth routed down Link not connected auto(D) --
Eth1/2 -- eth routed down Link not connected auto(D) --

Is there a manual workaround for this or anything I can check to see why it might be happening?

Thanks

export configs, make them startup configs, wipe nodes and try again.
You should also upgrade Eve to the latest version 6.2-0.6

Awesome, that's got all my interfaces up again.

Thanks for your help.
