Multiple Ubuntu nodes sharing same state after clone

Probably a beginner question, but I think I broke my lab template somehow.

I imported an Ubuntu image, got it working, then copied the node a few times for testing. After rebooting the lab, every instance now seems to share the same state and hostname changes affect all of them.

It would be the same in the case when you've committed the images with your changes.
