Changing Node interface name from e0...

Hello all,
Just started this amazing EVE community edition ...!!
Here is what I am trying to do.
I am making Quagga base router. I am cloning linux.php for the same. By default, the interface names are like e0, e1...Is there a way this naming can be changed. e.g. I want some interfaces to be shown as e0, e1, some are like ge1, ge2 etc.
Can this be done? Appreciate any direction towards that.
