Manual override interface naming per node

Post by jefflanska » Wed Apr 05, 2023 3:45 pm

In a future release it would be great if we can get a manual override of the interface naming convention added to the "add a new node" screen. The use cases for me is when deploying Juniper vSRXs in a cluster configuration (ge-0/0/0 changes to em0 therefore renaming ge-0/0/1 to ge-0/0/0, second chassis begins with ge-7/0/0) another use case would be when adding additional vFPs to a Juniper vMX the new vFPs shift the interface naming similar to the clustered vSRX.

A feature request for a future release that would allow for a manual override of the interface naming convention on the "add a new node" screen. The user provides specific use cases, such as deploying Juniper vSRXs in a cluster configuration where interface names change, and adding additional vFPs to a Juniper vMX resulting in similar interface naming changes. This feature would provide flexibility in managing interface names in different deployment scenarios, potentially improving the user experience for configuring network devices. slope game
