Hi

I bought external USB HDD and copied there a lot of files. Device formatted with NTFS.

Then I try to execute ANY .exe file there I got error message:

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You, may not have the appropiate permissions for the item"

All files can be executed it I copy them on local drive.

Also I can open videos and images without any issues.

My user is a Local Admin, no domains or other network integrations.

To fix Windows that cannot access the specified device, path, or file you need to disable the antivirus software for the time being. To do it tap Windows key and R key together to launch Run dialog, write msconfig in the box, then press OK or hit Enter to continue. Now in the System Configuration window, you can go to the Start up tab and press on the option that says Open Task Manager to proceed. A window will pop up so find the antivirus program and select it before tapping Disable button to continue. Hopefully, here the issue might be fixed now. In case it doesn't then you can follow https://appuals.com/windows-cannot-acce ... h-or-file/ this site to find more solutions.
